Four graduates from different universities in Iloilo City have made it to the Top 10 of the March 2023 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT).
Jirah Mae Gabo Flores from West Visayas State University (WVSU) placed third in the LEPT Secondary Level with a rating of 92.40 percent.
Central Philippine University (CPU) graduate Wenn Irabon Ricaforte, and WVSU graduate Cris John Quintila Ludas ranked ninth and tenth, respectively, with average ratings of 91.20 percent and 91.00 percent.
Another WVSU graduate, Dyssa Chin Cabanhao, also took the tenth spot at the Elementary Level with a rating of 90.40 percent.
Both Flores and Ludas, who were classmates in college at WVSU, said that they were only hoping to just pass the exam, and did not even expect to be included at the top.
“Ari gyapon sa cloud nine kay until now daw hindi gid mapatihan nga maka top sa LET and prime influence gid siguro teachers ko kay both sila teachers,” Flores said.
Ludas also advised other students, particularly those who will soon take the exam, to focus on their goals as it is through their determination that they can succeed.
“Learning is not exclusive sa physicality sa inside sang classroom. Ang learning ara sa tao, iya internal motivations, kung gusto ya gid mismo mag-learn, matudlu-an,” he added.
Meanwhile, WVSU, Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U), and Phinma-University of Iloilo (UI) also emerged as top-performing schools in the LEPT.
ISAT-U ranked second in the Elementary Level with a passing rate of 97.80 percent or 89 of the 91 takers from the school passed, while the Phinma-UI placed seventh with 68 or 94.44 percent of its examinees made the cut.
WVSU, on the other hand, claimed the fourth and fifth spots in the LEPT Elementary and Secondary levels, respectively.
WVSU got a passing rate of 95.18 percent (127 out of 133 takers passed) at the Elementary level and an average rating of 94.66 percent at the Secondary level as 248 of its 262 examinees passed.
The results for the LEPT were released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Board for Professional Teachers (BPT) on Friday, May 19, 2023.
PRC data revealed that a total of 24,819 elementary teachers out of 60,896 examinees and 48,005 secondary teachers out of 102,272 takers passed the board exam.
