Filinvest Land Inc. has broken ground on the Iloilo Centrale Township Football Field in Leganes, Iloilo, in partnership with the Philippine Football Federation and the Iloilo-Guimaras Regional Football Association.
The project aims to provide a well-equipped training facility for aspiring Ilonggo football athletes.
PFF President John Anthony Gutierrez said the football field is envisioned as a year-round training venue for local players.
“The PFF together with the Iloilo-Guimaras Regional Football Association envisions that the Iloilo Centrale pitch will serve as a center where players can train all year, regardless of weather conditions, and training sessions will continue safely,” Gutierrez said.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Gerard Marcelo, township head of Iloilo Centrale; Evelie Catacutan, Filinvest Land branch manager for Iloilo; and Leganes Sangguniang Bayan Member Joseph Allen Españo.
The football field will be located at Iloilo Centrale by Filinvest in Barangay Cagamutan Sur, Leganes, Iloilo.
Iloilo Centrale is an 11.4-hectare residential township developed by Filinvest Land in the coastal municipality of Leganes, adjacent to Iloilo City.
PFF said Gutierrez was elected federation president on Nov. 25, 2023, and has been involved in efforts to strengthen football development programs in the country.
The new pitch is expected to support grassroots football development in Iloilo and Guimaras by giving young athletes and community teams a dedicated space for regular training.
