ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A former inmate from Iloilo City was arrested Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 19, in a buy-bust operation conducted by police at Sitio Pangpang in Barangay Bolo, Roxas City.
Police identified the suspect as alias Alog, 51, a native of Iloilo City who was temporarily residing in a barangay in Panay, Capiz.
Police said the suspect had previously been jailed for several cases but was able to post bail for his temporary liberty.
They said he was driving a passenger tricycle while allegedly engaging in the illegal drug trade.
Recovered from the suspect were sachets of suspected shabu and buy-bust money.
The suspect is under the custody of the Roxas City Police Station, where charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against him.
Lady nabbed in illegal drug sting
A woman was also arrested Wednesday evening, Nov. 19, in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Station Drug Enforcement Team of the Roxas City Police Station at Purok 2, Barangay Dayao, Roxas City.
Police Master Sergeant Ramil Arcangeles, Roxas City Police Station spokesperson, identified the suspect as Wellamae Delos Santos, alias Maymay, 36, a street-level individual and resident of the barangay.
Recovered from Delos Santos were two packs of suspected shabu weighing 9 grams and worth PHP 61,200, along with PHP 3,000 in buy-bust money.
Dayao punong barangay Wenie Batuampo said Delos Santos’ illegal activities had long been monitored by authorities, who had repeatedly urged her to stop for the good of the community.
He said Delos Santos had undergone rehabilitation in Cebu City, but the process was cut short after her live-in partner fetched her.
Reports said her live-in partner was earlier arrested in a buy-bust operation in Panay town and was also linked to the recent arrest of Stephen Teves, alias Alog, by the Capiz Police Drug Enforcement Unit at Sitio Pangpang in Barangay Bolo.
Reports added that authorities conducted two months of monitoring and surveillance before launching the operation against Delos Santos.
Charges for violating Republic Act 9165 will be filed against her, and she is now under the custody of the Roxas City Police Station.
Two brothers wanted for attempted homicide arrested
In another police operation, the Dumarao Municipal Police Station on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 19, arrested two brothers wanted for attempted homicide in Barangay Poblacion, Dumarao, Capiz.
Police identified the suspects as alias Richard, 38, and alias Jess, 33, both residents of Barangay Agsirab.
The warrant of arrest was issued by Municipal Circuit Trial Court Judge Jerson Fuerte Almalbis of Dumarao–Cuartero on Nov. 14, 2025.
The court recommended PHP 36,000 bail each for the suspects’ temporary liberty, and both are under the custody of the Dumarao Police Station for proper disposition.
Reports said the brothers were tagged in an alleged failed stabbing of a neighbor a few months ago.
