The Iloilo Provincial Government, led by Provincial Administrator Dr. Raul Banias, conducted a post-Dinagyang “Trash Walk” on Monday, January 27, to clean up the Capitol area following the weekend’s Dinagyang Festival highlights.
Employees from various provincial offices joined the initiative, spearheaded by the Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PGENRO), immediately after the regular flag-raising ceremony.
The clean-up focused on addressing the piles of litter, particularly plastic waste, left behind by thousands of festival-goers who gathered at the Capitol area during the colorful and lively celebrations.
The Capitol served as Judging Area No. 2 for the Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahan Tribes Competition and the Dinagyang Tribes Competition. It is also a key entry point to Iloilo City proper.

Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. expressed his gratitude to the organizers and department heads for the successful staging of the province-led Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahan.
“It was a really good promotion for our fun, foodie, friendly province sa Bagong Pilipinas. Congratulations! We will continue to develop the festival so that it will become a better cultural stage for the province and city,” Defensor said during the flag-raising ceremony.
The event highlighted the province’s rich heritage, culinary traditions, and unity, featuring nine competing tribes from various municipalities.
