Iloilo Crime Volume Drops Slightly in First Half of 2025

The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) reported a slight decrease in crime incidents during the first half of 2025.

From Jan. 1 to June 30, the IPPO recorded 3,712 incidents, reflecting an 8.8 percent drop from 4,040 incidents during the same period in 2024.

The Peace and Order Indicator—which includes both index and non-index crimes—fell significantly, from 1,714 cases in 2024 to 1,323 cases in 2025, a 23 percent reduction.

Index crimes, which include the eight focus crimes—murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, kidnapping, carnapping and motornapping—declined by 34 percent.

The total fell from 402 cases in 2024 to 286 in 2025.

IPPO said the figures contributed significantly to the improved peace and order situation in the province.

Non-index crimes totaled 1,037, representing a 21 percent decline from 1,312 cases last year.

Meanwhile, the Public Safety Indicator recorded 2,389 incidents in 2025, slightly up from 2,356 in 2024, or a 1.4 percent increase, mostly due to traffic-related cases.

Colonel Roland Bulalacao, Police Regional Office 6 deputy regional director for operations and concurrent IPPO officer-in-charge, credited the improved security to the dedication of police personnel and strong community partnership.

“The dedication and proactive efforts of our police personnel, along with the invaluable cooperation of the Ilonggo community, have played a significant role in achieving this positive outcome,” Bulalacao said.

He urged the police and the public to sustain the momentum to further enhance the province’s safety and security.
