THE Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) recorded a 14.53 percent decrease in crime volume in 2018 compared to 2017.
ICPO records indicate that 8,556 crimes were recorded in 2018 compared to 10,010 crimes in 2017.
The continuous decrease in crime volume has a great impact to the city itself. It is not just because of the decrease in number, but also in the security felt by the people, said ICPO Operations Chief Supt. Jowel Saliba.
Our officers are continuously doing their best to maintain the decrease of crime volume in the city through its maximum police visibility where they are at their respective posts 24/7, he added.
In sum, 468 crimes against persons were committed in 2018 against 881 in 2017. Crimes against property totalled 420 in 2018 against 654 in 2017.
Also, 5,794 traffic incidents happened in 2018 against 5,958 in the previous year. (Roger Paul Timothy L. Lacuarta/Iloilo City PIO)
