Iloilo City was hailed as the Top 3 Awardee among highly urbanized cities (HUCs) in the country in the recently concluded Gawad Edukampyon for Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Awards.
Iloilo City ranked third in the HUC category of the Gawad Edukampyon ECCD Awards next to Olongapo City which ranked 2nd and Davao City which topped the list.
Special Assistant to the Mayor Mathilde Treñas together with Teresa Gelogo, head of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), Elizabeth Hechanova, Focal Person for Iloilo City Council for the Protection of Children (ICCPC), received the award last Friday, June 3, 2022 at Novotel Manila Araneta City.
Mayor Jerry Treñas said he is happy with the new distinction of Iloilo City as he commended the personnel and employees of the city government.
According to the mayor, the award shows that the city government has continuously invested in implementing programs for early childhood care and development, particularly in the construction and improvement of day care centers in the metro.
“Nalipay gid ako nga Top 3 kita sa ECCD. Amo ni ang aton mga day care centers and day care programs. Ginaconstruct naton kag ginapatahum pa ang aton mga day care centers sa syudad. We will continue to make sure nga ang syudad will be one of the top performing cities,” he said during the regular press conference on Monday, June 6.
Gawad Edukampyon Awards aims to recognize the achievements and innovations of local government units (LGUs) in championing education and good governance towards national development.
