A graduating student from Iloilo City drowned early Sunday afternoon, Dec. 28, at a resort in Pandan, Antique.
The victim, alias Angelo, 22, a resident of Barangay San Isidro, Jaro, Iloilo City, was taken to Justice Calixto O. Zaldivar Memorial Hospital in Pandan, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police said the victim, his aunt and uncle, and some cousins left Iloilo City early Sunday to visit parts of Antique.
They later went to Dumagat Cold Spring in Barangay Guia, Pandan.
The victim and his companions immediately went for a swim.
Police said the group was floating and drifting when, about 50 meters from the riverbank, Angelo failed to resurface, according to his companions.

His body was later found on the stream bed.
Police said they were informed about the incident at about 1:10 p.m., and when responders arrived, the victim had already been retrieved by his family.
With the assistance of the resort lifeguard and responding Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office personnel, he was taken to the hospital but did not survive.
