Iloilo City reaches full coverage under Project RTT 3389
By Jennifer P. Rendon

ILOILO CITY — The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has achieved 100 percent barangay coverage under Project RTT 3389, with all 180 barangays participating in the campaign against loose firearms.
All 180 barangays had turned in at least one loose firearm through the ICPO’s 10 city police stations by September 2026.
The accomplishment highlights the growing cooperation between police and local communities in reducing the number of undocumented firearms that could potentially be used in crimes.
During a program on Wednesday, Oct. 28, Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño commended ICPO personnel, the Iloilo City government, and barangay officials for supporting the regional campaign against loose firearms.
Mayor Raisa Treñas-Chu attended the program at the ICPO headquarters at Camp Achilles D. Plagata along General Luna Street in City Proper, Iloilo City.
The ICPO presented 244 firearms during the activity, consisting of 40 deposited firearms and 204 voluntarily surrendered weapons.
Based on the district breakdown, City Proper accounted for 51 firearms from 45 barangays, while La Paz recorded 25 firearms from 25 barangays.
Jaro accounted for 45 firearms from 42 barangays, while Mandurriao recorded 25 firearms from 18 barangays.
Molo registered 26 firearms from 25 barangays, Arevalo accounted for 15 firearms from 13 barangays, and Lapuz recorded 17 firearms from 12 barangays.
Arevalo became the first police district in Iloilo City to achieve 100 percent barangay coverage under Project RTT 3389.
The campaign, which stands for Restrict, Track and Turn-In, is a PRO-6 initiative aimed at strengthening firearms accountability and encouraging the voluntary surrender or proper turnover of loose firearms across Western Visayas’ 3,389 barangays.
The initiative seeks to reduce the circulation of undocumented firearms through police-community cooperation, firearms accounting, and coordination with local government and barangay officials.
As of Sept. 22, Iloilo City had recorded participation from 160 of its 180 barangays, equivalent to 88.89 percent coverage, before eventually achieving full participation.
The regional campaign also recorded the voluntary surrender of 3,583 loose firearms across Western Visayas as of Sept. 25, including 199 from Iloilo City.
ICPO director Col. Wilbert Parilla commended the participating police units, barangay officials, and barangay tanods for their dedication and cooperation in implementing the campaign.
He emphasized that community participation is vital in preventing firearm-related incidents and maintaining peace and order.
“Every firearm voluntarily surrendered means one less potential threat to our community. Together, we continue to make our communities safer,” Parilla said.
