The Iloilo City Police Office has warned individuals and groups against holding unauthorized rallies in connection with the 40th commemoration of the EDSA People Power Revolution on Feb. 25.
The ICPO said it had finalized its security deployment to ensure the safe and peaceful conduct of any mass protests or demonstrations.
Col. Wilbert Parilla, Iloilo City police chief, directed all unit and station commanders to maintain maximum vigilance, with the goal of achieving zero major incidents, as Iloilo City also hosts the 2026 ASEAN Meeting.
The ICPO assured the public of its commitment to uphold and respect human rights while reiterating strict compliance with the “No Permit, No Rally” policy.
The reminder came on the heels of possible demonstrations related to various national issues, including activities similar to the “Trillion Peso March Rally.”
Strategic deployment of sufficient personnel, mobile patrol units, and Civil Disturbance Management contingents have been put in place to address any unauthorized mass actions or disruptions that may compromise public safety and order.
“I urge the public, especially those planning activities that may violate the law, to exercise courtesy and respect toward authorities. The ICPO will not hesitate to take appropriate action against anyone who breaks the law,” Parilla said.
The temporary suspension of the Permit to Carry Firearms Outside of Residence was also enforced from 12:01 a.m. Feb. 20 until 11:59 p.m. March 1.
During this period, only members of the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and other law enforcement agencies performing official duties and wearing their prescribed uniforms are authorized to carry firearms outside their residences.
Parilla urged the public to obey rules and follow lawful orders as heightened security measures are being implemented in preparation for the 2026 ASEAN Meeting.
