Iloilo City police sting nets PHP 4.7M worth of ‘shabu’

Another high-volume anti-illegal drug operation was conducted late afternoon of June 22 in Molo, Iloilo City.

The drug sting led to the arrest of alias Parcon, 42, a resident of Barangay Calumpang, Molo.

Members of the Iloilo City Police Station 4 arrested the suspect after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu worth PHP 14,500 to a police poseur-buyer.

Police confiscated from the suspect 11 plastic sachets and two knot-tied plastic bags containing suspected shabu.

Capt. Ryan Christ Inot, ICPS 4 chief, said police seized 700 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP 4,760,000 from the suspect.

Parcon’s arrest appeared to be linked to the earlier apprehension of three suspects in a buy-bust operation shortly after midnight on June 21 in Oton, Iloilo.

Alias Jude, 32, of Zone 1, San Juan, Molo, Iloilo City; and brothers alias Christian, 26, and alias Choco, 28, both of Zone 3, Barangay Calumpang, Molo, were caught with nearly PHP 14 million worth of illegal drugs.

Reports said Choco allegedly claimed he used Parcon as his “bodegero,” or warehouseman, for their illegal drug supply.

Choco allegedly directed his clients to pick up the illegal drugs from Parcon’s home.

But Parcon denied the allegations and blamed Choco for his legal predicament.

The suspect is detained and will be charged with violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Republic Act No. 9165 penalizes the sale, trading, delivery, distribution and possession of dangerous drugs, including shabu, the local term for methamphetamine hydrochloride.
