Iloilo City police probe viral no-parking patrol photo

The Iloilo City Police Office has ordered an immediate investigation into a viral social media post showing one of its patrol vehicles allegedly parked in a designated no-parking zone along Quezon Street in the City Proper on the morning of June 17, 2026.

Police Col. Wilbert Parilla, Iloilo City police chief, issued the order after a photo and reports circulated online showing the patrol vehicle parked in an area with a “No Parking” traffic sign.

Parilla said the ICPO takes the matter seriously and remains committed to upholding discipline, accountability, and respect for the law among its personnel.

“No one is above the law, especially those tasked to enforce it. ICPO does not tolerate any act that may undermine public trust and confidence in the police organization,” he said.

Parilla said he ordered the concerned unit to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation to determine the facts and establish accountability, if warranted.

He emphasized that police personnel are expected to lead by example and strictly observe all laws, ordinances, and regulations at all times.

“We constantly remind our personnel that every action has corresponding consequences. As public servants and law enforcers, we must always uphold the highest standards of discipline, professionalism, and integrity,” Parilla said.

The city police chief said appropriate sanctions would be imposed if any violation is established after due investigation.

The ICPO assured the public that the investigation would be conducted fairly and transparently.

It also reiterated its commitment to maintaining public trust through accountability and adherence to the rule of law.

Parilla cited concerned citizens for their vigilance and encouraged the public to continue reporting incidents involving police personnel through proper channels.

He said public reporting is part of the shared responsibility of promoting transparency and good governance.
