To ease financial burdens on meat vendors amid rising costs and an ongoing hog scarcity, the Iloilo City government has approved a reduction in slaughterhouse fees.
The recently enacted Regulation Ordinance No. 2024-007 amends previous slaughterhouse rates to provide financial relief for vendors and promote a sustainable local meat supply.
The ordinance modifies sections 77, 78, 80, 81, 83, 84, and 85 of Regulation Ordinance No. 2023-211, which had earlier updated the Iloilo City Slaughterhouse Code of 2009.
New Slaughterhouse Fee Structure
Among the key changes under the new ordinance are the following reductions:
Permit to Slaughter Fees (City Veterinarian)
- Large or small cattle: PHP90 per head
- Hogs: PHP60 per head
- Sheep, goats: PHP36 per head
Slaughterhouse Fees
- Large cattle (150 kilos and above): PHP120 per head
- Small cattle (below 150 kilos): PHP50 per head
- Hogs: PHP1 per kilo
- Goats and sheep: PHP0.80 per kilo
- Other animals, including fowls: PHP0.60 per kilo
Post-Mortem and Ante-Mortem Fees
- Large cattle: PHP0.50 per kilo
- Hogs: PHP0.40 per kilo
- Goats and sheep: PHP0.30 per kilo
- Other animals: PHP0.20 per kilo
Corral Fees

Meat Delivery/Hauling Fees

- Others (including fowls): PHP60 per head
Requirements for Slaughter Permit (Large Cattle)

- Certificate of Transfer: PHP90
Slaughter Fee

City officials cited economic challenges, particularly the steep increase in slaughterhouse fees introduced in 2023, as a key reason for reducing rates.
The City Veterinarian’s Office, in coordination with the City Treasurer’s Office, will oversee the implementation of the new fees.
Vendors are still required to secure the necessary permits before slaughtering animals, with city personnel ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
