Iloilo City logs seven new Delta cases

Seven new cases of the highly transmissible Delta variant of Covid-19 were detected in Iloilo City, pushing the total variant cases to 22.

The new Delta cases were based on the sequence result issued last September 11, 2021 by the Department of Health’s Epidemiology Bureau.

According to the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU), three of the confirmed Delta cases were unvaccinated against Covid-19 while three were fully vaccinated and one is partially vaccinated (one dose only).

Out of the seven cases, six are tagged as recovered while one, who is a cancer patient, remains an active case.

“Of the seven, six were tagged as recovered, while one is a cancer patient who is still an active case and fully vaccinated. Another is also a fully vaccinated case from Carles who stays in a boarding house in La Paz. One more is fully vaccinated, one partially vaccinated, and three who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19,” according to a report from the Iloilo City Public Information Office.

Meanwhile, the seven cases will be re-swabbed and quarantined pending the results. Once the results turn out positive, the patient will have to undergo isolation for 14 days. Those with negative results will be released from quarantine.

Mayor Jerry P. Treñas has again appealed to the Ilonggos to double their guards amid the threats of the highly transmissible Delta variant.

“We really have to double our guards especially that we have the Delta variant in our midst. I urge everyone to observe stricter protocols, and avail of the vaccination. We have the vaccines waiting for you,” he said.
