The Candyland Christmas Lights display at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol grounds along Bonifacio Drive in Iloilo City officially concluded Sunday night, Jan. 4, marking the end of the provincial government’s monthlong Christmas attraction that drew thousands of Ilonggos and visitors.
The final night of the display coincided with the celebration of the Feast of the Epiphany.
The candy-themed Christmas village opened Dec. 5 and quickly became one of the province’s most visited holiday attractions, drawing nightly crowds to the Capitol grounds to view the lights and festive installations.
The provincial government said the annual display is part of its effort to share the spirit of Christmas by providing a welcoming public space where families and visitors can gather during the holiday season.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. earlier said the attraction goes beyond cultural and social value by supporting local tourism and encouraging visitors from other parts of the country to spend the holidays in the province.
Defensor said the influx of visitors contributed to increased economic activity during the holiday season.
For the 2025 installation, the provincial government allocated PHP 3.5 million, lower than the PHP 4.8 million spent for the 2024 display.
