The Iloilo Provincial Government announced on Wednesday, December 4, that the opening of its annual Christmas Village has been moved from December 6 to December 13.
Workers are still finalizing decorations and adding finishing touches for the event. With the theme “Christmas Village sa Makabagong Pilipinas,” this year’s celebration features upgraded decorations funded by a P4.8 million budget.
The event will include a lantern parade, fireworks display, trade fairs, and other family-friendly attractions, offering a lively and festive experience for both locals and tourists.
The Christmas Village is one of the provincial government’s key holiday events. Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. previously underscored the celebration’s role in elevating the province as a premier holiday destination.
“We want to level up this year because we want Iloilo to be recognized nationwide as a destination where families and children can come together to experience the spirit of Christmas,” Defensor said.
He also highlighted the event’s objective of boosting the local economy and creating business opportunities for the community.
Last year’s Disney-themed Christmas display drew thousands of visitors, setting high expectations for this year’s upgraded celebration.
The public is encouraged to attend the opening festivities at the Provincial Capitol Grounds. Updates on the event schedule will be provided through official announcements from the Iloilo Provincial Government.
