Iloilo Capitol honors 23 PWD scholarship graduates
The Iloilo Provincial Government, through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, honored 23 graduates of its Persons with Disability Scholarship Program during a recognition ceremony held Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the Capitol lobby. The Iloilo Provincial Government, through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, honored 23 graduates of its Persons with Disability Scholarship Program during a recognition ceremony held Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the Capitol lobby.
The graduates received certificates of recognition for completing their degrees with financial assistance from the provincial government.
One scholar graduated magna cum laude, while six others earned cum laude honors.
Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, who represented Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., said the program is part of the province’s inclusivity efforts under the governor’s social justice agenda through MoRProGRes, or Movement for a Robust, Progressive, Globally Competitive and Resilient Iloilo.
Banias also highlighted other educational programs, including the Iskolar sang Iloilo Program, assistance for Indigenous Peoples, and the upcoming Educational Reintegration Program for former rebels and their children.
The event was attended by Vice Gov. Nathalie Ann Debuque, Board Member Rolex Suplico, PWD Provincial Federation President Ana Liza Hudierez, PWD focal person Christine Roa of the Persons with Disability Affairs Office, and PSWDO officer-in-charge Marice Andrea Bedonia.
