Iloilo bamboo council maps 2026 industry growth
The Iloilo Bamboo Industry Development Council met May 7, 2026, to discuss plans and activities aimed at strengthening the bamboo industry in Iloilo province. The meeting focused on updates from member agencies and partner organizations, including the presentation of the Asian Forest Cooperation Organization Maasin Bamboo Roadmap and other ongoing bamboo initiatives in the province.

The Iloilo Bamboo Industry Development Council met May 7, 2026, to discuss plans and activities aimed at strengthening the bamboo industry in Iloilo province.
The meeting focused on updates from member agencies and partner organizations, including the presentation of the Asian Forest Cooperation Organization Maasin Bamboo Roadmap and other ongoing bamboo initiatives in the province.
Council members also shared programs and accomplishments designed to support bamboo growers, processors, and local enterprises.
Among the topics discussed were the establishment of bamboo nurseries, the protection and maintenance of bamboo plantations, access to financing programs, participation in local trade fairs, and skills training for communities and stakeholders.
The council also tackled preparations for Philippine Bamboo Month in 2026, which is observed every September under Proclamation No. 1401.
The council’s work supports national bamboo development efforts under Executive Order No. 879, which created the Philippine Bamboo Industry Development Council to provide policy and program direction for the industry.
Present at the meeting were the team from the DTI Iloilo Provincial Office, led by Ma. Dorita D. Chavez, officer in charge and provincial director; Jonathan T. Tejida, supervising trade and industry development specialist and officer in charge division chief; Florenda Octoberiana Abian, senior trade and industry development specialist; and Shayne J. Taganao, trade and industry development specialist.
Also present were representatives of DENR Region 6, PENRO Iloilo, DENR CENRO Guimbal, the Department of Agriculture, IPG-LEDIPO, PCENRO-Iloilo, KAPAWA, and Lady Joy Haro, business counselor from Negosyo Center Alimodian.
The meeting highlighted continued collaboration among government agencies and partner organizations to promote sustainable bamboo development in Iloilo.
Through coordinated programs and activities, the council aims to create more opportunities for local bamboo enterprises while encouraging environmental sustainability and community participation across the province.
