The Iloilo provincial government, through the Provincial Population Office, has allocated PHP10 million for the establishment of Family and Youth Development Centers in San Dionisio and Passi City.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., along with Provincial Population Officer Atty. Ruel Von Superio and Provincial Engineer Romeo Andig, led the turnover of PHP5 million checks each to San Dionisio Mayor Darwin Bajada and Passi City PPO IV Ma. Theresa Buena on March 24.
Municipal and city treasurers from both localities also attended the ceremony.
The FYDC is a two-story infrastructure project led by the provincial government under its MoRProGRes (Movement for a Robust, Progressive, Globally Competitive and Resilient Iloilo) development agenda.
The facility is intended to support key family and youth programs in partnership with local government units, Sangguniang Kabataan, and Local Youth Development Offices.
Once operational, it will host Pre-Marriage Orientation and Counseling sessions, youth training programs, and other population and development initiatives.
It will also provide office space for the Population Program Officer, Barangay Service Point Officers, and Local Youth Development staff.
The center will serve as a meeting venue for the SK and the Local Youth Development Council.
The FYDC initiative is part of Iloilo’s wider efforts to strengthen Responsible Parenthood and Adolescent Health and Youth Development programs.
It reinforces the province’s commitment to promoting family welfare and empowering the youth.
