ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Authorities destroyed 48 motorcycle mufflers on Saturday afternoon, March 1, in Jamindan, Capiz.
The activity was part of the local government’s ongoing campaign against open and modified mufflers, in line with Municipal Ordinance No. 2021-09.
The Jamindan Transportation and Traffic Office (JATTRO) and the Jamindan police confiscated the illegal mufflers.
The municipal ordinance was enacted after residents complained that modified mufflers caused noise pollution and disrupted their communities, especially at night.
“This shows that the Jamindan local government unit, through Mayor Mac Arthur Valdemar, Vice Mayor Aran Vestidas, and the municipal council, wants a safer and quieter community, particularly at night,” said Police Capt. John Peter D. Celino, Jamindan police chief.
