Illegal firearm, grenade seized in Capiz police raid

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Authorities seized an unlicensed firearm and a hand grenade from a farmer during a raid on the evening of September 15 in Brgy. Rizal, Pontevedra, Capiz.
Joint operatives from the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station led by PCpt. Gary B. Diaz, the 1st Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company under PLt. Jessie Lemana, and the Capiz Provincial Explosives and Canine Unit led by PSSg. Joemarie E. Alingao served a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Lorencito B. Diaz of Regional Trial Court Branch 17, Roxas City.
The operation targeted alias Roy, 45, a resident of the barangay.
Recovered from the suspect were one .45-caliber pistol with two magazines loaded with eight rounds of live ammunition, a brown sling bag, and one hand grenade.
The suspect was brought to the Pontevedra Police Station for documentation.
He will face charges for violating Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and Republic Act 9516, or the Illegal Possession of Explosives Act.
