ICPO warns PUV drivers of rebel ‘recruitment tactics’

The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has issued a warning to public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers about alleged recruitment tactics by so-called communist front organizations (CFOs) exploiting the drivers’ discontent.

The ICPO Intelligence Section cautioned against groups reportedly seeking to infiltrate transportation collectives by capitalizing on opposition to the PUV modernization plan.

“Rebel front organizations are moving heaven and earth to penetrate our transport groups,” an ICPO representative stated.

Major Shella Mae Sangrines, the ICPO spokesperson, expressed concerns about these organizations’ attempts to provoke drivers against the government.

“They want to exploit the issue. They are inciting the drivers to rebel against the government,” Sangrines said.

She emphasized that these purported legal front organizations have no actual ties to the transportation sector.

Furthermore, Sangrines noted the absence of a legal basis for pursuing action against these groups.

Sangrines urged the transport community to exercise discernment in affiliating with any groups, highlighting the potential hidden agendas of recruiters despite legitimate driver concerns.

She assured that the ICPO will maintain vigilant surveillance over this matter.
