The Iloilo City Police Office urged the public to refrain from spreading negative speculation about the death of a college student inside a university dormitory in Jaro, Iloilo City.
Following requests from the victim’s family and school authorities, the ICPO opted not to disclose further details.
Police reported only that a university employee discovered the body of 22-year-old Vil, a resident of Iloilo province, inside his room around 1:05 p.m. on June 9.
Capt. Benjie Dicen, chief of the Iloilo City Police Station 9, said the case is still under investigation.
A Scene of the Crime Operatives team was called in around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday to process the scene and conduct further investigation.
Meanwhile, ICPO chief Col. Wilbert Parilla ordered a thorough investigation and close coordination with the victim’s family and school authorities.
He also asked the public to refrain from making insinuations while the investigation is ongoing and to respect the victim and his grieving family.
“This is a very sensitive case, and we appeal to the public to give the family the respect and privacy they deserve. We ask everyone to avoid spreading unverified information and allow authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation,” Parilla said.
The ICPO assured the public that all angles are being carefully investigated to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The ICPO said updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
