From national distinction to remarkable operational accomplishments — this is how the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) summed up the 30-day stint of its officer-in-charge, Col. Wilbert Parilla.
In a press statement, the ICPO pointed out that it has excelled both administratively and operationally under Parilla’s leadership.
It started with the ICPO being recognized as the Best City Police Office for the second consecutive year during the 1st PNP Day 2026 Celebration held at the PNP National Headquarters at Camp General Rafael Crame, Quezon City on Jan. 29.
Further cementing its claim for excellence, the ICPO noted that it earned the back-to-back championship title during the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) 2nd Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO) Challenge held in February at the PRO6 Command Center, Camp General Martin Delgado, Iloilo City.
On the operational front, the ICPO sustained its relentless and intelligence-driven campaign against illegal drugs and other criminal activities, recording significant accomplishments from Jan. 13 to Feb. 13.
During the period, different ICPO units conducted 77 anti-narcotics operations, leading to the confiscation of 2.695 kilograms of shabu with an estimated standard drug price of PHP 18,328,000 and 4.2000 grams of marijuana.
This series of operations led to the arrest of 96 drug personalities — 24 High-Value Individuals (HVI) and 69 Street-Level Individuals (SLI).
Three other individuals were apprehended by virtue of warrants of arrest.
In its intensified campaign against criminality, the ICPO arrested 44 wanted persons, including six Most Wanted Persons and 38 Other Wanted Persons.
As part of its campaign against illegal gambling, 41 operations were conducted, resulting in the arrest of 84 individuals and the confiscation of PHP 27,851 in bet money.
The ICPO also sustained its drive against loose firearms. During the same period, 26 operations were conducted, leading to the confiscation of three firearms; the surrender and deposit of 23 firearms; the recovery of 10 explosives; and the arrest of one individual.
Meanwhile, in enforcing local ordinances, the ICPO recorded 1,698 apprehensions citywide, including the confiscation of 19 modified mufflers.
Intensified checkpoint operations across strategic areas of the city likewise contributed to deterring the occurrence of crimes.
Parilla attributed unity and teamwork as the reasons the ICPO has achieved excellence and made significant strides in combating illegal drugs and criminality.
“Our commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our communities remains strong,” he added.
Parilla vowed to continue working tirelessly to uphold the law and protect the welfare of the Ilonggos.
