Citing career growth as the reason, the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has relieved five officers effective July 4.
The relieved officers include Lt. Romelo Tabuyoc, officer-in-charge of Iloilo City Police Station (ICPS) 1; Lt. Redan Octaviano of ICPS 3; Lt. Maryglo Morden of ICPS 4; Lt. Herald Quimbao of ICPS 8; and Lt. Cosmeflor Marco Jr. of ICPS 10.
In a press statement, the ICPO said the move is aligned with the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) career development and training program.
Tabuyoc was relieved to undergo the Investigation Officer Basic Course (IOBC), a mandatory program designed to enhance the investigative competencies of PNP personnel.
Capt. Melchor Tolentino has been designated as the new ICPS 1 commander.
He previously served as chief of ICPS 3 and the Leon Municipal Police Station.
He also held various assignments under the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) and, prior to his reassignment, was assistant chief of the City Intelligence Unit.
Col. Kim Legada, Iloilo City police chief, said the relief and reassignment are part of the PNP’s continuous efforts to build a stronger, more professional police force.
“We fully support the career advancement of our officers,” Legada said.
“While these reassignments may temporarily affect the internal dynamics of some units, they are essential in preparing our personnel for greater responsibilities.
We ensure there will be no leadership gaps, and our services to the Ilonggo community will remain consistent and unhampered.”
The ICPO leadership also assured the public that despite the transitions, all police operations and services in the city remain fully functional and responsive.
