The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) said Thursday it is investigating an alleged traffic violation involving one of its patrol vehicles.
ICPO City Director Police Col. Wilbert Parilla ordered a thorough investigation after a video showed a police patrol vehicle allegedly committing a traffic violation in Mandurriao on the morning of May 28.
Personnel involved have been identified and directed to submit an explanation, with appropriate sanctions to follow pending the investigation’s outcome.
Parilla assured the public the ICPO will handle the matter with fairness, transparency, and impartiality.
“We assure the public that this incident will be thoroughly investigated and that appropriate actions will be taken based on the results of the investigation. The ICPO remains committed to accountability, professionalism, and adherence to the rule of law. We have consistently reminded our personnel that every action carries corresponding consequences,” Parilla said.
The ICPO also encouraged the public to report incidents involving police misconduct or violations “to further strengthen transparency, accountability, and trust between the police and the community.”
The video, dashboard camera footage uploaded to Facebook by professor and filmmaker Bobby Rodriguez, was captured at around 6:18 a.m. Thursday.
In the footage, a vehicle bearing the ICPO name and the designation “MJ-22” was seen turning left onto Donato Pison Avenue from Sen. Benigno Aquino Avenue coming from the City Proper side, despite being in an outer lane.
