The Iloilo City Police Office’s (ICPO) weeklong anti-narcotics operation led to the seizure of around PHP 9.316 million worth of suspected shabu.
Beyond the significant haul, ICPO highlighted the impact of the operations in saving lives and apprehending criminals involved in illegal drug activities.
From January 13 to January 20, ICPO conducted 14 operations, resulting in the arrest of 21 individuals.
Of those apprehended, seven were classified as high-value individuals (HVIs), while 14 were identified as street-level pushers.
The operations led to the confiscation of 1.370 kilograms of suspected shabu.
The ICPO City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) recorded the highest seizure with 650 grams, followed by ICPS9 with 320 grams, ICPS10 with 150 grams, ICPS1 with 85 grams, ICPS2 with 70 grams, and ICPS4 with 35 grams.
Other ICPO units also contributed to the overall success of the operations.
Colonel Kim Legada, Iloilo City police chief, stated that the anti-illegal drug efforts have not only disrupted drug networks but have also bolstered public safety in the city.
“The series of anti-illegal drug operations have disrupted illegal drug networks and strengthened our collective resolve to ensure a safer and more secure Iloilo City for every Ilonggo family,” Legada said.
He commended the operating personnel for their dedication, strategic execution, and vigilance, which resulted in the recovery of illegal drugs and the arrest of drug peddlers.
“These accomplishments are a testament to the dedication, vigilance, and strategic efforts of our men and women on the ground, along with the unwavering support of the community and our partner agencies,” he added.
