How efficient is the government’s unified Emergency 911 (E-911) system?
According to the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), it’s more responsive and methodical than ever.
The ICPO demonstrated the speed and reliability of the E-911 system to Iloilo City officials, barangay leaders and key stakeholders on July 9.
Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan, Western Visayas police chief, and ICPO Director Col. Kim Legada led the demonstration held at the 8th Floor Penthouse Auditorium of Iloilo City Hall.
During the simulation, ICPO personnel successfully responded to four separate emergency scenarios across Iloilo City.
Police teams arrived at each location within three minutes of receiving the calls.
The simulated emergency calls originated from:
- The residence of a barangay captain in San Vicente, Jaro
- The barangay hall of Hinactacan, La Paz
- The residence of a barangay kagawad in Balabago, Jaro
- The Hibao-an Integrated School in Barangay Hibao-an Sur, Mandurriao
Legada said the swift response times reflected the ICPO’s operational efficiency and field readiness.
He emphasized that the event showcased the agency’s commitment to public safety, rapid emergency response and inter-agency coordination.
“This activity is more than just speed,” Legada said.
“It is a testament to our preparedness, our commitment to service excellence and our promise to respond swiftly and decisively when our constituents need us most.”
“To all Ilonggos and visitors of Iloilo City, you no longer need to look for us at the precincts—we are already in your phones,” he added.
“Dial 911, and we will be there within five minutes.”
Legada reaffirmed ICPO’s vision of a safe, secure and responsive Iloilo City, made possible through strong partnerships with barangays and allied agencies.
