They asked and he delivered.
In Colonel Joeresty Coronica’s first month as Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) officer-in-charge, the unit mounted 33 drug operations.
The ICPO City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) and the different Station Drug Enforcement Teams (SDETs) combined forces for daily anti-drug operations from January 27, the first day Coronica assumed post, until February 27.
The series of anti-narcotics operations led to the recovery of 567.7629 grams of suspected shabu with a standard drug price value of P3,826,787.72.
These operations also resulted in the arrest of 45 drug personalities who were charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
Despite their gains, Coronica said they don’t intend to slow down.
“This will even drive us to even do more,” he said.
Meanwhile, ICPO units have also arrested 42 wanted persons, eight of whom are on the most wanted list, during the period.
Further, there were six anti-illegal gambling operations conducted within the month that resulted in the arrest of 24 persons.
Coronica said that the accomplishments logged by different police units proved their drive for more aggressive and revitalized operations against illegal drugs, illegal gambling, and other forms of criminalities in Iloilo City.
He also vowed to continue what he started, particularly on the eradication of illegal drugs.
“From here on, there’s no stopping for us,” he said.
