ICPO arrests 66, seizes PHP 23M shabu in January

The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) said it dealt a major blow to the illegal drug trade in the city after arresting 66 drug suspects in January.

Police said 16 of those arrested were classified as high-value individuals, while 50 were street-level pushers.

From Jan. 1–31, ICPO records showed its units conducted 51 anti-drug operations.

These operations led to the seizure of 2.308 kilograms of suspected illegal drugs with an estimated value of PHP 23,080,600.

Col. Wilbert Parilla, ICPO officer in charge, said all units contributed to the monthlong, intelligence-driven operations.

ICPO records showed the City Drug Enforcement Unit recorded the highest volume of confiscations and the most arrests during the period.

Parilla also cited the community’s role in the operations as he commended ICPO personnel for their dedication to duty.

“This shows our commitment to cleanse our streets of the menace of illegal drugs. Rest assured that under my leadership, every month’s accomplishments will be our baseline to do more in the succeeding months,” he said.

Parilla said the ICPO will remain aggressive in intensifying operations to continue delivering strong blows against those involved in illegal drug trafficking.
