Ibañez tops PSA Negros Occidental anniversary quiz bee
BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental — Perlie Jean M. Ibañez emerged as champion of the Philippine Statistics Authority-Negros Occidental Provincial Statistical Office’s Quiz Bee held Sept. 7 as part of the agency’s 13th anniversary celebration.
Kert C. Diaz placed second, while Raquel Vallecillo finished third after a series of challenging questions during the competition.
The activity tested participants’ knowledge of statistics, Gender and Development, PSA programs and activities, and other relevant topics.
Organizers said the Quiz Bee also sought to encourage critical thinking, active participation, and camaraderie among participants.
The competition formed part of activities marking the 13th anniversary of the Philippine Statistics Authority.
On-the-job trainees and statistical researchers were among those who participated in the Quiz Bee, according to the photographs included in the PSA release.
The agency said the activity complemented its anniversary celebration by giving participants an opportunity to expand their knowledge of statistics, Gender and Development, and the PSA’s mandate and activities.
The competition also provided participants a venue to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in a friendly setting.
PSA Negros Occidental said the activity contributed to making the agency’s 13th anniversary celebration both meaningful and enjoyable.
The provincial statistical office issued the press release on Sept. 8, 2026, under Reference No. PR2026-09-1845-157.
The release was approved by John F. Campomanes, chief statistical specialist of the PSA Negros Occidental Provincial Statistical Office.
The event also reflects the agency’s broader role in promoting awareness of official statistics and the programs used to produce and communicate government data.
By reinforcing statistical knowledge among participants, the Quiz Bee supports greater familiarity with information that can help government agencies and communities better understand social, demographic, and economic conditions.
