BACOLOD City – Police are looking into jealousy as a motive behind the death of a woman who was stabbed by her common-law husband in front of their two children at Sitio Kalubihan, Barangay Camang-Camang, Isabela, Negros Occidental yesterday.
The victim was identified as Digna Bordago, 65, of the said village.
Police Captain Joseph Partidas, Isabela town police chief, said the victim and her two minor children – a boy and a girl – left their house around 5:30 a.m. to work at the sugarcane field.
Her husband identified as Fredo Camacho, then followed them and without any provocation, allegedly stabbed his wife in the chest, Partidas said.
The victim died on the spot, while her husband fled along with the bladed weapon he used, the town police chief added.
Partidas said that Camacho and Bordago never argued, according to their relatives.
However, Camacho allegedly felt bad when his wife went to the house of their other child to take care of their grandchild.
“Once lang man siya nagkadto sa bata niya, pero wala na nami-an ang bana niya, nag sunggod,” Partidas said.
