Hundreds of gun enthusiasts gathered for the 1st City Director’s Cup at Mikey Firing Range & Gun Club, Inc. in Barangay Lanit, Jaro, Iloilo City.
The competition, held from November 7 to 9, 2025, was organized in partnership with the Iloilo City Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development (ICAG-PTD).
A total of 227 shooters competed across six categories: handgun, PCC, steel challenge PCC, ICPStation Team, and Open Team Challenge.
The event was an IPSC/PPSA Level 1 Sanctioned Match and Action Air Shooting Competition.
Colonel Kim Legada, director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), officially opened the tournament.
Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, Western Visayas police chief, was represented by Colonel Jerome D. Afuyog Jr., acting chief of the regional staff, who delivered his message.
Ligan said the shootfest not only highlights the skills of law enforcement and shooting enthusiasts but also strengthens collaboration between the PNP and the community.
“While winning is important, the true value of this competition lies in the experiences we share, the friendships we form, and the memories we create,” he said.
“May this inspire everyone to pursue excellence not just in shooting but in all areas of life,” he added.
Legada highlighted the energy, passion, and camaraderie among participants and praised the teamwork behind the event’s success.
“This competition is not about who can shoot the straightest or score the highest,” he said.
“It’s about discipline, focus, and integrity—qualities that define both great shooters and great public servants,” he added.
He emphasized that the ICPO’s partnership with ICAG-PTD proves police transformation involves real relationships, engagement, and trust with the community.
“In Iloilo City, we shoot for excellence—not aiming at each other, but aiming together toward progress, partnership, and peace,” Legada said.
Atty. Rutchel Espinosa, ICAG-PTD chairperson, reaffirmed the group’s support for ICPO through programs to improve capabilities and uplift personnel morale and welfare.
She said events like the City Director’s Cup promote operational readiness and proficiency while also fostering teamwork and mutual respect between police and the civilian shooting community.
Espinosa said these efforts help build a shared commitment to responsible gun ownership and public safety in Western Visayas.
