Police claimed they already have the identity of the person whose remains were found in a river in Calinog, Iloilo afternoon of May 7, 2023.
Major Myles Dieron, Calinog police chief, said the remains could be that of Jelmar Castor from Barangay Tuyongan, Calinog.
A group of boys who were fishing at a river in Barangay Badlan Pequeño found a human skull on the river bank.
They immediately reported the incident to village officials.
The remains were later taken to Baranco Funeral Homes.
Dieron said Castor’s family already took custody of the remains believing that it was their loved one who went missing on Jan. 25, 2023.
The 35-year-old man was allegedly collecting firewood with some companions when he drowned.
His companions tried to rescue him but failed. Efforts to find his body were also futile.
