Hotel101 Madrid reaches 5,000 reviews ahead of F1

DoubleDragon Corp.’s 680-room Hotel101-Madrid has reached 5,000 international customer reviews on Booking.com less than five months after opening, earning a rating of 9.1 out of 10.
The Madrid hotel’s early performance is a test of whether a Philippine-developed hospitality model can generate sustainable foreign-currency income overseas, diversify DoubleDragon’s recurring revenue, and deliver broader economic benefits through taxes, investment, and potential U.S. dollar inflows to the Philippines.
Hotel101-Madrid opened to the public on March 10, 2026, becoming the first overseas property operated by the Filipino hotel chain.
DoubleDragon said the hotel has reached 100% occupancy several times since opening.
The company is preparing for higher occupancy and room rates as Madrid hosts major events, including Real Madrid football matches and the city’s first Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix is scheduled for Sept. 11–13 at the new Madring circuit near the hotel’s Valdebebas location.
Demand generated by major sporting events could lift short-term room revenue, but the longer-term test will be whether Hotel101-Madrid can maintain high occupancy and competitive rates after peak event periods.
DoubleDragon described the Madrid property as the perfected global prototype for Hotel101 Global and a fully calibrated business model ready for rapid expansion.
The company aims to build a portfolio of 1 million uniform Hotel101 rooms across 100 countries.
DoubleDragon’s long-term goal is to make Hotel101 the world’s largest single-brand, uniform hotel chain.
The company said its diversified portfolio includes income-generating properties across the Philippines, including provincial community malls, industrial warehouses, offices, and hotels.
Hotel101 uses an asset-light model known as HBNB, under which standardized hotel units are sold to individual investors and operated under a single hospitality platform.
The model allows Hotel101 to generate revenue from unit sales while building a recurring income stream from hotel operations.
DoubleDragon expects 2026 to record its highest number of hotel room openings in a single year, with 2,229 additional rooms becoming operational.
The total includes the 680-room Hotel101-Madrid, the 519-room Hotel101-Davao, the 548-room Hotel101-Cebu, and the 482-room Hotel101-Niseko in Hokkaido, Japan.
The Madrid hotel is already operating, while the properties in Davao, Cebu, and Niseko are expected to expand the company’s domestic and overseas room inventory during the year.
DoubleDragon expects to begin generating a higher volume of recurring revenue in 2026 from provincial community mall leasing, industrial warehouse leasing, office leasing, and its hospitality portfolio in the Philippines and overseas.
The company said the 518-room Hotel101-Manila and the 606-room Hotel101-Fort continue to operate at consistently high occupancy levels.
The performance of the Philippine properties provides an operating base for Hotel101’s international rollout, while Madrid will show whether its standardized room concept can be replicated in markets with different customers, costs, and regulations.
DoubleDragon expects Hotel101’s overseas expansion to eventually become a major generator of U.S. dollar inflows for the Philippine economy.
The scale of that economic contribution will depend on the amount of overseas earnings returned to the Philippines, the pace of new hotel openings, and the company’s ability to turn occupancy into sustained profits and cash flow.
Hotel101 Global became the first Filipino-owned company to list and trade on the Nasdaq Stock Market in 2025 under the ticker symbol HBNB.
The opening of Hotel101-Madrid in 2026 also made Hotel101 the first Filipino homegrown hotel chain to operate overseas.
DoubleDragon reported total assets of PHP 225.3 billion.
Looking ahead, the company’s growth prospects will depend on the performance of its 2,229-room opening pipeline, the ability of Hotel101-Madrid to retain its guest rating after its initial launch period, and the successful conversion of major-event demand into year-round recurring revenue.
