ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A homicide case was filed Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 25, against a security guard accused of killing his fellow guard during a confrontation at the Roxas City Airport on Sunday, Nov. 23.
The complaint was filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office against Willy Maligdong, 34, of Barangay Tinigban, Panitan, Capiz.
Maligdong allegedly stabbed Ronel Orbe, 45, of Barangay Cagay, Roxas City, during an altercation around 1:30 p.m. inside the airport compound in Barangay Baybay.
PSSG Almar Albaran of the Roxas City Police Station said the confrontation was triggered by a misunderstanding involving messages exchanged on Facebook Messenger.
According to the police report, Orbe summoned Maligdong to the airport gate to confront him about the posts. Orbe then reportedly hit Maligdong with a hard object.
In retaliation, Maligdong allegedly drew a knife from his waist and stabbed Orbe on the left side of the body.
Authorities responded immediately and rushed the victim to the airport clinic before transferring him to a nearby hospital. He was declared dead hours later.
Maligdong was arrested at the scene and is currently in the custody of the Roxas City Police Station.
Police have cited personal misunderstanding as the primary motive behind the incident.
