BACOLOD CITY – Mayor Raymund Tongson of Himamaylan, Negros Occidental met with officers of PrimeWater and Himamaylan Water District to explore solutions after the city government received several complaints about water quality from residents.
Tongson met with Engineer Daryl Jay Peguis, Branch Manager of PrimeWater Himamaylan; and Engineer Joel Gellecanao, General Manager of Himamaylan Water District, to discuss how the city government can help improve the quality of water supplied to households and businesses.
“Himamaylanons need improved access to clean and sufficient water,” Tongson said.
Tongson mentioned that the meeting with PrimeWater representatives aimed to resolve the residents’ complaints about water quality.
“This intervention is very helpful in providing quick solutions to the problems brought to our office by our fellow Himamaylanons,” Tongson added.
The recent drought has also highlighted pressing issues regarding accessibility to clean water during calamities and emergencies, the mayor stated.
“Rest assured that the complaints, feedback, and reports of our citizens are heard. Part of our mandate is to ensure that the commodities they receive are up to standard to ensure health and quality of living,” Tongson said.
The mayor was accompanied by city government officers, some punong barangays, and Acting City Fire Marshal Mario Niel Joevic Eufan.
