ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Police seized PHP 68,000 worth of suspected shabu from a woman listed as a high-value individual during a buy-bust operation at noon Friday, July 3, in Sitio New Road, Barangay Banica.
Police identified the suspect as Ligaya Polmo, 49, a single mother listed in the Provincial Priority Target List.
Authorities recovered three sachets of suspected shabu weighing 10 grams, with an estimated street value of PHP 68,000, and PHP 12,000 in buy-bust money.
The operation was conducted by the Police Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and the Roxas City Police Station in the presence of Barangay Banica Councilor Manuel “Nonoy” Bigay, chair of the committee on peace and order.
Police said charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against the suspect.
The suspect is under the custody of the Roxas City Police Station.
Polmo denied involvement in the drug trade but admitted using illegal drugs, which she allegedly obtained from Railway Street in Barangay Punta Tabuc.
Bigay said the suspect was listed by the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council and had been under police surveillance.
