BACOLOD CITY – Police are investigating personal grudges as a possible motive in the fatal shooting of a high school teacher inside a computer shop in Purok Lubi, Barangay 3, on Tuesday.
Police Maj. Eugene Tolentino, chief of Police Station 2, identified the victim as “Rex,” 48, a resident of Bago City, Negros Occidental.
Tolentino said the victim was playing a game on a computer when a lone gunman entered the shop and shot him at around 5:25 a.m.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder that exited through his back, resulting in his immediate death.
Police recovered a fired bullet from a .45 caliber pistol at the scene.
No other injuries were reported, although several customers were inside the shop at the time of the incident.
Tolentino said they already have a person of interest.
The victim’s wife told police her husband would sometimes visit the area because he knew someone there.
Police are reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage in hopes of identifying the gunman.
