The Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference wraps up a thrilling year with a blockbuster clash between league-leader Cignal and second-running Petro Gazz, as both teams look to close 2024 on a high note.

The highly-anticipated showdown, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Philsports Arena, promises to be a nail-biter. Fans can expect a match as intense and thrilling as last Thursday’s back-to-back five-set battles.

Cignal’s unbeaten record (4-0) is on the line as the HD Spikers seek to extend their remarkable win streak and solidify their solo lead heading into the holiday break. Their recent dominance includes commanding victories, such as two sweeps against the Farm Fresh Foxies and Nxled Chameleons, as well as four-set triumphs over the Choco Mucho Flying Titans and the Chery Tiggo Crossovers.

But Petro Gazz (4-1) has also been on a roll, riding a three-game winning streak that includes back-to-back three-set romps against the Foxies and the Chameleons, along with a hard-fought four-set victory over the Flying Titans.

The Angels are determined to carry this momentum into the break, aiming to snatch the solo lead from the HD Spikers.

Meanwhile, Chery Tiggo will try to bounce back from a stinging four-set loss to Akari, which dropped them to a 3-2 slate. The Crossovers face Galeries Tower, who finally snapped a four-game losing streak with a straight-set win over Capital1 Solar Spikers.

While the Crossovers are favored, they must remain wary of a rejuvenated Highrisers squad in their 4 p.m. showdown.

These matches mark the end of the preliminary phase of this six-month-long tournament organized by Sports Vision and supported by Arena Plus, Fabriano Appliances, Milcu, Watsons, iColor & Argan Beauty, Tapa King, Sport Radar, and Mikasa.

Action resumes on Jan. 18, 2025, with a triple-header featuring Farm Fresh vs. Nxled at 1:30 p.m., ZUS Coffee vs. Choco Mucho at 4 p.m., and Akari vs. PLDT at 6:30 p.m.

The next playdate on Jan. 21 will spotlight Galeries Tower against Cignal, Capital1 versus Creamline, and Petro Gazz against Chery Tiggo.

Following these matches, the league will return to its regular schedule of two games per playdate.

For now, all eyes are on the highly anticipated Cignal-Petro Gazz duel. With both squads in peak form and eager to end the year as league leaders, fans can expect nothing less than a classic of a duel.
