BACOLOD City – Police are looking into grudges as motive behind the murder of a motorcycle-for-hire (habal-habal) driver in Barangay Ani-e, Calatrava, Negros Occidental last Sunday.
Danilo Cuales, 52, of Barangay Patun-an, was shot in front of his live-in partner while they were having coffee in a sari-sari store, according to Police Major Lumyaen Lidawan, Calatrava City police chief.
Lidawan said the suspect identified as Ronald Abadilla, 42, of Barangay Lalong, arrived and shot the victim without any confrontation.
Cuales succumbed to gunshot wounds in the chest, Lidawan said.
Police recovered from the scene six fired bullets for a .45-caliber firearm.
Lidawan said that Cuales and Abadilla previously figured in a fistfight.
“Dating nag-away pala sila, iyong victim binugbog dati itong suspect dahil sa agawan ng pasahero sa habal-habal,” the police chief added.
Lidawan said that murder charges will be filed against Abadilla, who is still at large.
