Guv urges San Carlos City residents to stay at home

BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson urged residents of San Carlos City to stay at home amid the surge of coronavirus diseases 2019 or COVID-19 cases in the city.

Lacson said as of April 7, San Carlos City has a total of 179 active COVID-19 cases.

Barangay Guadalupe Proper alone recorded 21 cases.

Lacson appealed to the city’s residents to follow health protocols.

“As much as possible avoid going out of their homes if not necessary,” the governor said.

Meanwhile Murcia Mayor Gerry Rojas, two members of the Municipal Council, and a former council member have tested positive for COVID-19.

Provincial Board member Manuel Ko was also reported to have contracted the virus.

In Kabankalan City Mayor Pedro Zayco, issued an executive order suspending cockfighting activities in the city.

This, after 25 residents contracted the virus from the initial seven who were reported to have come from a cockfighting activity.

Kabankalan City has a total of 40 active cases.

In Toboso town Mayor Richard Jaojoco ordered the lockdown of 700 houses in the locality to contain the spread of the virus after the number of policemen who contracted the virus rose to 9.

Toboso has 22 active cases.

In Cadiz City, 150 houses in Purok Mainuswagon, Barangay Zone 2 were placed under lockdown for seven days on orders of Mayor Salvador Escalante after11 residents in the area contracted the virus.
