BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson signed Monday afternoon Executive Order No. 20-43 series of 2020 which extends the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) in the province until September 15, 2020.
Lacson in his executive order said that the province of Negros Occidental has 1,069 COVID-19 cases while the entire country has more than 217,396 COVID-19 positive cases.
Because of the rising number of COVID-19 positive cases in the country, there is still a need to place the province of Negros Occidental under MGCQ.
In the same executive order, Lacson said that domestic flights and sea travel going to Negros Occidental shall be suspended from Sept 1-7, 2020.
Since all quarantine facilities of the province shall be utilized to accommodate the influx of COVID-19 positive cases as a result of the Timeout Weekend Mass Testing conducted in the cities of Talisay, Silay, Bago and the town of Murcia, there will be no adequate facilities to hold returning Negrenses during this period.
