BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson on Sept 16, 2019 said that he asked Bacolod City Councilor Carl Lopez for a copy of the ordinance which seeks to rename the North and South Capitol Roads into the Smile and MassKara Roads, respectively.
Lacson said he will only make his decision over the issue once he gets the copy of Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) decision.
The ordinance authored by Lopez stated that the roads on both sides of Ayala Capitol Central on the western portion and both sides of the Provincial Capitol and Lagoon on the eastern portion are known only as South Capitol Road and North Capitol Road.
Since the roads are part of the Lacson Street venue for the MassKara Festival every October, Lopez proposed renaming the roads into the Smile Road and MassKara Road.
