Guns, Ammunition Seized in Tapaz Police Raid

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Two high-caliber firearms and several rounds of ammunition were seized during a police raid Wednesday night, May 21, in Barangay Daan Banwa, Tapaz, Capiz.
The operation was carried out by the Provincial Intelligence Unit, Capiz Police Provincial Office Tracker Team, Tapaz Municipal Police Station and the 2nd Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company.
It was implemented under a search warrant issued by a Regional Trial Court judge.
Recovered from the home of a suspect known as alias Dodong were one caliber .45 Norinco pistol, one caliber .45 STI Ranger II pistol, 18 rounds of ammunition and two magazines.
Police said the operation was based on reports from concerned individuals regarding the firearms being kept at the suspect’s residence.
The suspect is currently in the custody of the Tapaz Police Station.
Charges will be filed for violating Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and the Commission on Election gun ban.
