Guintu rolls out infrastructure projects across Capiz district

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Rep. Ivan Howard A. Guintu has outlined various infrastructure projects being implemented in Roxas City and six municipalities in Capiz’s 1st District.
The projects include constructing 22 multipurpose buildings, eight road-concreting projects, and rehabilitating a drainage system.
In a media interview Thursday, Aug. 20, Guintu said the projects were in various stages of procurement, including “for bidding, bid-out and awarded,” from June through August 2026.
In Roxas City, projects include constructing multipurpose buildings in four barangays, one barangay road, and rehabilitating a drainage system along Villareal Stadium in Barangay Tiza.
In Maayon, the projects include multipurpose buildings in five barangays and road construction in two barangays.
In Panay, multipurpose buildings are being constructed in two barangays, while road projects are underway in two others.
In Panitan, multipurpose buildings are being constructed in two barangays.
In Pilar, multipurpose buildings are being constructed in five barangays, along with a road project in one barangay.
In Pontevedra, the projects include multipurpose buildings in three barangays and road construction in two barangays.
In President Roxas, multipurpose buildings are being constructed in two barangays.
Guintu said the infrastructure projects are ongoing across Roxas City and the six municipalities in the district.
Rice distribution is also underway in barangays across Capiz’s 1st District, he said.
“Kamo ang akon inspirasyon, sa akon mga inisyatibo para sa progreso sang primero distrito sang Capiz,” Guintu said.
The district comprises Roxas City and the municipalities of Maayon, Panay, Panitan, Pilar, Pontevedra, and President Roxas.
Guintu also recently met with local officials of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and the Department of Labor and Employment to discuss livelihood support for fishermen in the district.
The initiative involves training 30 beneficiaries from Roxas City in fiberglass boat-making.
The boats are intended for distribution to 40 fishermen-beneficiaries from Panay, Pilar, Pontevedra, and President Roxas.
“Kinahanglan naton buligan ang aton mga kasimanwa sa kadagatan nga makaangkon sang Fiber Boat para labi nga mapauswag ang ila pangabuhi,” Guintu said.
Capiz’s coastal communities, including Panay, Pontevedra, President Roxas, and Pilar, rely significantly on fishing and other marine-based livelihoods.
