Guintu proposes 100-bed hospital in Pontevedra

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Capiz 1st District Rep. Howard Guintu has proposed the construction of a 100-bed hospital in Pontevedra, Capiz.
A consultative meeting was held Wednesday, July 22, to discuss the project and improve constituents’ access to health services.
The meeting was attended by Guintu, Department of Health Regional Director Dr. Mar Wyn Bello, Department of Public Works and Highways 1st District Engineer Cecil Lawrence Cruz, and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Alex Nolasco, who represented Gov. Fredenil Castro.
The proposed facility will be called the Capiz General Hospital.
It is envisioned as a 100-bed Level 2 hospital to be developed through cooperation among national and local government agencies and officials.
Guintu said details on the project’s construction would be announced soon.
Capiz currently operates the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital and another provincial hospital facility in Barangay Lanot, both in Roxas City.
The province also has four government-run district hospitals.
These are Bailan District Hospital in Pontevedra, Mambusao District Hospital in Mambusao, Tapaz District Hospital in Tapaz, and Sen. Gerry Roxas Memorial District Hospital in Dao.
Castro said the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital facility in Barangay Lanot is being prepared for conversion into the Capiz Medical Center.
The governor said the facility is expected to attain regional hospital status before year-end.
