The town of San Lorenzo in Guimaras posted a 350 percent increase in registerd births in the first quarter of 2023, according to data from the Decentralized Vital Statistics System released by the Philippine Statistics Authority.
“Following San Lorenzo are Jordan and Nueva Valencia, with increases of 13.7 percent and 10.6 percent, respectively,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.
“Buenavista and Sibunag were the only municipalities that saw a drop in registered births of 21.1 percent and 16.7 percent, correspondingly,” she added

Of the 1,082 recorded births registered in Q1 2023, females accounted for 51.85 percent or 561, while 48.15 percent or 1,521 were males.
The 1,014 registered births in the first quarter of 2022 resulted in a 6.7 percent increase.
Losare also said that recorded female birth outnumbered male birth registrations in the municipalities of Buenavista, Jordan, Nueva Valencia, and Sibunag.
Only San Lorenzo was male-dominated, with a gender disparity of 55.56%, or a sex ratio of 350 males for every 100 females.

Of the total births registered in the first quarter of last year, 552 were females, or 54.44 percent while 462 were males, or 45.56 percent. This is an 8.88 percent gender difference, with a sex ratio of 84 males for every 100 females.
Iin the first quarter of 2023, there were 561 females, or 51.85 percent, and 521 males, or 48.15 percent in the total births registered. That equates to a 3.70 percent difference or a sex ratio of 93 males for every 100 females.
“The Q1 2022 age gap percentage is 5.18 percent higher than the Q1 2023 age gap percentage,” Losare said.
