The Philippine Statistics Authority-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office recorded a 38-day-old infant as the youngest National ID registrant during January 2026 registration activities as the province surpassed its monthly target.
A total of 766 individuals registered under the National Identification System in January, exceeding the target of 540 registrants and posting an accomplishment rate of 141.85%.
“The milestone reflects PSA Guimaras’ sustained efforts to expand National ID coverage and ensure accessible identity registration for all Guimarasnons,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.
Age-group data showed that 107 registrants were ages 0–4, underscoring the increasing participation of young children in National ID registration and growing awareness among parents of the value of early identity registration.
Municipal data showed that Nueva Valencia recorded the highest number of registrants with 529, or 69.06% of total registrations, followed by Sibunag with 122, or 15.93%; Buenavista with 73, or 9.53%; Jordan with 26, or 3.39%; and San Lorenzo with 16, or 2.09%.
National ID registration activities during the month served residents of all ages, highlighting the inclusivity of the Philippine Identification System.
“The registration of a 38-day-old infant highlights growing awareness among parents on the importance of early identity registration for their children,” Losare said.
Losare attributed the strong performance to continuous National ID operations, effective coordination with local government units, and the dedication of PSA personnel in accommodating walk-in applicants and reaching unregistered residents across the province.
The National ID is the government’s foundational identification system and is intended to help simplify access to public and private services, including financial and social protection transactions.
To expand coverage further, PSA Guimaras scheduled additional registration activities in February 2026.
“These activities will be conducted in Brgy. Ravina, Sibunag on February 02, 2026; Brgy. Sabang, Sibunag on February 03, 2026; Brgy. San Isidro, Sibunag on February 04, 2026; Brgy. Alegria, Sibunag on February 05, 2026; and Brgy. Concordia Norte, Sibunag on February 06, 2026,” Losare said.
“In addition, a National ID on Wheels activity will be held in Brgy. East Valencia, Buenavista on February 07, 2026, while another registration activity is scheduled during the Municipality of Sibunag Foundation Day celebration on February 14, 2026,” Losare added.
PSA and PhilSys have also continued mobile registration and information drives in island and geographically isolated communities, including efforts encouraging parents to register children ages 0–4.
PSA Guimaras urged unregistered residents to avail themselves of the scheduled activities and register for the National ID.
