The Province of Guimaras will host its second Data Festival this October in line with the 36th National Statistics Month.
Organized through the Provincial Statistics Committee of the Provincial Development Council, the festival carries the theme “Accelerating the SDG Pace of Progress: Mobilizing Data for All.”
Officials said the monthlong celebration seeks to highlight the role of statistics in governance, promote evidence-based decision-making, and strengthen the province’s data ecosystem.
The committee emphasized its goal of upscaling the statistical system by engaging the academe, government agencies, non-government partners, and the community in data-driven initiatives.
A series of pocket events will showcase how statistics can be both informative and engaging, including a Data Expo, the launch of the 2024 Guimaras Ecological Profile, an online statistics trivia challenge, and the second Guimaras Research Congress.
Other highlights will include Kaathagan sa Estadistika, the second Data Pitching Challenge, Stat Camp, KabataanFIRST Data Summit 2.0, World Statistics Day celebration, and the #DevTalk Statistical Infographics Contest.
Capacity-building sessions on data management, analytics, visualization, and policy reporting will also be held alongside an inter-agency data campaign.
The festival will further feature a Senior Citizens Congress, data advocacy programs, and initiatives on vital events registration.
Organizers said the event aims to prove that “in the Guimaras Data Festival — stat meets fun and data take center stage.”
